THE ROYSTON – Hidden away in the back streets of Richmond sits the Royston. It’s a classic from all angles. Love it!
SLOW BEER – Richmond’s hub of craft beer – drink in or take away, great charcuterie too. The online store rocks.
BEER DELUXE – The ultimate brew pub with an incredible beer garden, cafe and dining space. Fed Square & Hawthorn locations.
MOUNTAIN GOAT – Great pizza, great atmosphere and the whole range on tap. Need we say more?

CAULFIELD CELLARS – Great range in this nifty little spot. You’d be lucky if this was your local.
BLACKHEARTS & SPARROWS – Growler options from the tap or a massive range to choose from otherwise. 5 locations around Melbourne.

CHEFS AMOURY/SAKE SHOP – Run by sake master Lee Hudson this place features a well curated selection of premium sake, a smattering of premium Japanese ingredients, knives and books. Richmond. The online store is great too.

HINOKI – Japanese pantry / sushi bar with a nice selection of sake? Yes!  Of course, only in Smith Street. Collingwood.


Drink In…
MAEDAYA – Run by sake fanatic Toshi, who is also the guy behind Maedaya is a casual eatery on Bridge road with a great selection of sake and awesome yakatori. Richmond
KUMO IZAKAYA – Andre Bishop – sake master, educator and all round over-achiever is behind this great izakaya in Brunswick. A great place to learn as the flavour profiles of each sake are cleverly illustrated. Andre is also behind the fantastic NIHONSHU Shochu & Sake bar, and IZAKAYA CHUJI. City.
IZAKAYA DEN – This iconic basement eatery ticks all the boxes: great food, seductive atmosphere and a fantastic sake list. The team behind Izakaya Den are also responsible for HIHOU Japanese bar and lounge which was recently voted by TIMEOUT as Melbournes best small bar. City.
AKOCHOCHIN – Worth trekking over to South Wharf for, this humble (and great value) eatery offers great food, great service and flights of sake to match.
SAKE RESTAURANT – Overlooking the Yarra River, Sake is a bit fancy but worth every cent. It’s polished, thoughful and the food is incredible. The sake list is great and the staff are on hand to talk you through it.
