Who doesn’t! Meet Pete Leckie from LIKE THIS LOVE THAT – you’re personal wine buying service. Pete doesn’t have a shop front but has his finger on the collective pulse of the wine industry: it’s online retail, but not as you know it. The idea is you tell him what you like and he sources it for you (plus other gems you might enjoy) and it arrives – beautifully wrapped –  on your doorstep. He can also source wines for weddings & other big events. In short, competitive pricing, great wines and you don’t even have to put pants on!

PRINCE WINE STORE: Shops in Essendon & South Melbourne specialising in imports and premium local wines, the Prince is iconic for a reason and that reason is that it’s awesome.

CITY WINE SHOP: If you’re the kind of person who likes to eat terrine while you do you’re weekly wine shop, then this is the place for you. Great Champagne range & a best of global selection + a cheese cave next door at Spring St. Grocer.

LA VITA BUONA: La Vita Buona – In the heart of Melbourne CBD, this independent bottle shop is full to the brim with a most nifty selection of wines from around the world.

MC COPPINS: Independent chain McCoppins have four stores: Abbotsford, Clifton Hill, Hawthorn and Fitzroy filled to the brim with a huge selection of craft beer and great value wines.

BLACKHEARTS & SPARROWS:  Blackhearts & Sparrows is another great independent chain – with five stores: North Fitzroy, Windsor, Brunswick, St Kilda and Kensington – so they must be doing something right!  A great selection of wine, beer & some sake too.

SEDDON WINE STORE : Keeping the westside in great booze are the guys behind Seddon wine store – which stocks a very thoughtful selection of great wine from all over the world. They also offer charcuterie & bar snacks in the evenings.

CLEVER POLLY’S, North Melbourne – a nice focus on ‘natural wine’ here including plenty of orange, BD and organic options.

BANTER, North Melbourne – A great bistro/bar focusing in interesting drinks from all around the world.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WINE, North Fitzroy – A timeless, warm space with a shady history, an epic wine list and a great team.

BELOTTA, South Melbourne – Go nextdoor to the Prince Wine Store, select your bottle and drink it at Belotta for minimum charge. Seriously.

HARRY AND FRANKIE, Port Melbourne – A great addition to the Bay street strip – killer wine selection by the bottle and glass and a lovely relaxed space to settle in to.

CITY

MESS HALL: A beautiful upstairs space seating up to 32 – simple & delicious Italian inspired food and a neat wine list.

SELF PRESERVATION: Their new space upstairs seats up to 20 people, menu options vary.  It’s atmospheric and quirky.

SUPPER CLUB: Speaking of luxe, Supper Club is the original. Seats 40 or 90 standing, with various menus. Other options in the same precinct are Siglo rooftop or Spring St Grocer.

BAR LOURINHÃ: A gorgeous space with capacity for 35 sit down, with tailored dining options from the Spanish influenced menu.

BOTTEGA: Seats from 10 to 60 in rooms which overlook leafy Bourke st. Great multi use rooms, perfect for corporates.

COLLINS QUARTER:  A 19th century inspired private dining room makes this one of the most inspired private dining rooms in town.

SUPERNORMAL: Incredible city space with flexible menu options – seats 40 to 60 or more for cocktail events.

NORTHSIDE

CARLTON WINE ROOM: Three distinctive rooms to choose from including the wonderful cellar which seats 18. Other options up to 80 people plus incredible food and service, not to mention the epic wine list.

JIMMY WATSONS WINE BAR: At the Paris end of Lygon street sits Jimmy Watsons – a Melbourne icon with a range of spaces to suit different events.

GERTRUDE ST ENOTECA: Tucked away in the upstairs of Gertrude Street Enoteca is their kitchen and private dining space – it seats up to 20 and chef Brigitte can assemble a menu to specification. A great option for a night of food and wine luxury.

GERTRUDE HOTEL: A fantastic brew pub in Fitzroy with great food to boot: capacity for stand up events over 100 and exclusive hire of the beer garden available also.

THE WILDE: The upstairs space will seat up to 16 on one table – an eclectic room with great pub food available.

ST CRISPIN: As if this place could get much better! Their upstairs space can be sectioned off for a private dinner, or hire the whole floor which includes the very dapper Thomas Olive cocktail bar.

MATTEOS: Gilded mirrors, luxe furnishings, an incredible outdoor/indoor space – there is a reason this place is an institution. Spaces for 30 up to 130.

BUILDERS ARMS: A gorgeous dining space can seat 20 up to 60, with flexible menu options and one of Melbourne’s best wine lists.

EAST AND SOUTH SIDE

UNION DINING: The upstairs of Union Dining is perfect for medium sized functions from 24-65 sit down, or up to 90 stand-up. Private terrace, great food and a great team.

THE POINT ALBERT PARK: This sophisticated and luxurious restaurant offers three distinct spaces suited a huge range of events. Experienced team with flexible catering options.

BELOTTA: Opened by the team behind Prince Wine Store, and a menu presided over by chef Brigitte of Gertrude Enoteca, this is a wine bar with incredible food. Four distinct spaces to choose from, rooms are also available for hire without catering.

LAMAROS: A South Melbourne institution with several private spaces available in addition to flexible catering options. Capacity ranges from 12 to 120

HONEY BAR: A flexible space in South Melbourne catering for every kind of event imaginable.

CHARLIE DUMPLING: Get your event catered Charlie Dumpling style – delicious dumplings, noodles and salads. Their contemporary upstairs space seats 12  – 24.
