Fred Siggins: Our man for everything whisky.

Whisky expert Fred Siggins has nearly twenty years of experience as a spirits educator, bar manager, chef and beard-wearer. Former senior bartender at Fitzroy’s legendary Black Pearl, Fred has also traveled the world gaining first hand knowledge of whisky and other spirits from Tasmania to Tennessee. He mostly spends his time writing, judging spirits and cocktail competitions and training bartenders all over Australia and the Pacific. Fred has teamed up with Humble Tumbler to write each one of these masterclasses from scratch, independent from any particular brand, which means we can give you the whisky we want and the truth behind it. We’re pretty excited about the World Whiskies Masterclass  masterclass…#justsaying.

This is a special event we’re hosting to showcase some of the spectacular (and rare) Australian & Japanese whisky we’ve been collecting over the last 18 months. It’s more expensive than usual due to the high cost of the whisky, yet offers a once-in-a-blue-moon insight into the achievements of our local  industry. If you’re into whisky, this is not to be missed.

Talk about bringing out the big guns – not since the world cup qualifiers has a more intense showdown hit the fields of Melbourne. Japanese and Australian whiskies are in huge demand these days, as both island nations take the game to the big boys of Scotland and snatch awards left right and centre. Low production and high demand have driven prices sky-high and made availability scarce, but we’ve been hiding some special stuff away and now it’s time to make the best of it.
